Visitor information
Harden-Murrumburrah and district NSW

Harden Shire nestles in the gently undulating hills of the Southwest Slopes region of New South Wales, 340 km SW of Sydney and 125 km NW of Canberra by road.

Harden Shire is home to 3,800 people, half living in the twin towns of Harden and Murrumburrah. The villages and localities of Galong, Jugiong, Wombat, Cunningar, Kingsvale, Prunevale, Currawong, Nubba and Aurville are within Harden shire.

Known for its scenery, historic attractions, events and sporting and recreational facilities, Harden Shire is becoming known as a centre for quality, fresh local produce: cherries, figs, peaches, apples, strawberries and other fruit in season, eggs, olive oil, mustard seed oil, honey and wines. More cherries are grown in Harden Shire than in Young. Fresh local lamb and beef are excellent, and sheep and alpacas are grown for their fleece.

Murrumburrah is a central hub for visiting the region. Historic Murrumburrah was gazetted as a town in 1858 and celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2008. With its historic buildings and village atmosphere, Murrumburrah has many attractions for the visitor. Speciality shows include Ingsco gifts and furniture, a quilt shop, a metalworker, engineering business and a honey shop.
