Russell Muirhead established Muirhead Engineering
in 1982 as a specialist metal fabricator
offering design, fitting, machining, welding and construction in steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
Muirhead Engineering manufactures the Ezypress, a 60-tonne general
purpose hydraulic press designed for low-volume manufacturing.
Muirhead Engineering has fabricated stainless
steel sculptural monuments, extruding machinery, abattoir processing equipment, flagpoles and supports for solar thermal energy generators among
others.
Clients include the Australian National

Ezypress
Muirhead Engineering's Ezypress is
a popular choice for low-volume manufacturing applications such as
forming, broaching, punching and general maintenance.
The 60-tonne general purpose
hydraulic press was designed by Muirhead Engineering specifically to
fulfil a a broad range of repetitive
manufacturing jobs.
The press is powered by a 4kw three-phase electric motor.

Facilities
Muirhead Engineering is located on
the Burley Griffin Way at Murrumburrah, 340 km from Sydney, 125 km
from Canberra and 30 km from Young, with good road and rail
transport links to Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide, Melbourne
and Wagga Wagga.
Muirhead Engineering specialises in resolving design
issues as well as manufacturing metal components and structures. The 1,000 square metre workshop has
a variety of equipment:
Commemorative stainless steel flagpole, Murumburrah
Alf Round, a British merchant seaman
whose ship SS Kirkpool was sunk on 10 April 1942,
survived the war as a Japanese POW. He settled in Murrumburrah
and died there 8 August 2006. In 2008, Russell Muirhead erected the steel flagpole
in Federation Park to commemorate Alf Round 's voluntary work
maintaining the park.

Muirhead Engineering has produced a number of
whimsical sculptures and useful devices that reflect the long
Australian tradition of bush ingenuity.
These range from the steel and stainless steel whimsical bushranger
figure at left (February 2010) and wingless concrete culvert frames to
stainless steel light shades and pot belly stoves made from recycled
steel brake drums. |
